Friends of the Locust Fork

The Friends of the Locust Fork formed becasue of the threat of a dam proposed by the Birmingham Water Works. At that time the dam proposal did not go through, but the threat still exists. The Locust Fork is one of the most beautiful free flowing rivers in Alabama.

Friends of Hurricane Creek

Hurricane Creek is the Crown Jewel of Tuscaloosa County. It faces huge threats including a new by-pass and series of bridges. This stream is one that is restoring itself and this one can win, thanks to the efforts of John Wathen and people working with him. If every watershed in Alabama had a John Wathen working to protect it, we would have the cleanest streams in the country.
